As part of the ongoing preparations for the second compact agreement between the United States’ Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of Indonesia, the Agrotek Lestari Internasional (ALI) team participated in a key site visit to Palembang, South Sumatra, from January 12 to 14, 2025. This visit was conducted under the framework of the Millennium Challenge Account-Indonesia II (MCA-Indonesia II), the entity responsible for implementing the compact.

The ALI Team was included as part of a Due Diligence Team, supporting the Feasibility Study (FS) for the Good Practice Infrastructure Projects (GPIP) at the Palembang-Ampera LRT Station. This initiative forms a crucial component of the Advancing Transport and Logistics Accessibility Services (ATLAS) Project under the Compact, with a focus on improving connectivity and accessibility while upholding sustainability standards.

The visit primarily served as a data-gathering mission for both the Feasibility Study and the development of Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS). Special attention was given to identifying and analyzing environmental and social considerations, with a particular focus on resettlement action plans and how potential impacts on surrounding communities can be effectively mitigated. This preparation phase is integral to ensuring that infrastructure development proceeds responsibly.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by local government officials, including Mr. Ir. Basyaruddin Akhmad, M.Sc., Assistant for Economic Affairs, Finance, and Development, as well as Ms. Regina Aryanti, S.T., Head of the Provincial Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), along with other representatives from the South Sumatra Provincial Secretariat. Their support and engagement highlighted the strong collaboration between national, provincial, and international stakeholders in bringing forward transformative infrastructure projects in Indonesia.

The findings from this visit will inform the broader planning and design of the GPIP and contribute to ensuring that transport infrastructure in Palembang is not only effective and efficient but also socially responsible and environmentally sound.
